Kara Atwood was named City Secretary in February 2012. She has been employed with the City of Lufkin since 1998. As City Secretary she is responsible for the management, organization and processing of all official records of the City as well as the preparation of all City Council meeting documents along with conducting all Municipal elections. Kara received her Texas Registered Municipal Clerk Certification in 2014. She is a current member of the International Municipal Clerks Association, the Texas Municipal Clerks Association and President of the local Pineywoods Chapter of the TMCA. Kara is married and has three daughters.
 


 

2015 Municipal Election information

 

Initial Filing Packet for 2015

 

 

The City of Lufkin will hold a Municipal Election on May 9th 2015. In 2015, the following positions will be elected:              

 

          Mayor

          Councilmember Ward No. 2

          Councilmember Ward No. 4

 

The first day for filing an application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, January 28, 2015.  An individual may file for the Mayor or City Council Election in the office of the City Secretary beginning at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015, through Friday, February 27th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

What’s Required?

 Must be at least 18 years of age
 Must be a registered voter of the City of Lufkin
 Must not hold elected office or not be an employee of an elected official if the offi-cial is a candidate in the current election
 Must not be related to any candidate in the current election
