Everyone is invited to come in for Kurth Memorial Library’s Second Annual Open House on September 24th from 9am to 3pm.  Whether you’ve never been in before, you just haven’t been in lately, or you’re a regular visitor, we invite you to come see all of the things that the library has to offer.

Libraries are no longer just buildings full of books: your local library now offers children’s craft programs, teen programs, senior programs, classes, movies and more.

Your local library holds a wealth of knowledge in various formats including books, CDs, cassette tapes, Playaways, DVDs, VHS tapes, magazines, computers, Internet access, microfilm, maps and more—all available at your fingertips.

We will be offering tours of the library, staff will be available to answer questions and we will be hosting family bingo sessions at 11am and 1pm.  Please come in and see what your library has to offer.

We have lots of free events scheduled, including the following:

  •     September 10 – Saturday Family Programming – 11:30am.  Join us as we read A  Friend for All Seasons by Julia Hubery and make a simple craft.

  •     September 12 - Bilingual Pajama Story Night – Hooray for Grandparents’ Day! by Nancy Carlson, 5:30pm – 6:30 pm.  Kids, come in and make a card for your favorite adult.

  •     September 17Saturday programming for Teens  – 11:30am.  Teens are invited to come in and make a keychain.

  •     September 21 - Coffee and Conversation – Game Day – 10am.  Adults 55+ are invited to come in and play some good old-fashioned games.

  •     September 24Open House – 9:00am-3:00pm.

  •     September 26Email for beginners – 5:30pm-6:30pm.  Space is limited.  Please call for reservations.

For more information on any of the above events, please call the library at 936-630-0560.

We wanted to thank everyone who participated in our Summer Reading Programs.  We had 743 children and teens sign up this year, and we hope that all the participants had as much fun as we did.  We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
