Mission

To protect public health, safety, and welfare through the review, inspection, and enforcement of City and State codes related to public improvements, building, fire and code enforcement.

The Inspection Services Department is responsible for both building and code enforcement in the City of Lufkin.

Our offices are located in Room 255 of City Hall. Business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Our offices are closed during 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for lunch.

Attention Building Contractors

As a condition to the issuance of a building permit for construction work in the City of Lufkin a License and Permit Bond in the amount of $5,000.00 shall be given to the City of Lufkin (Ord. 417) for the purpose of guaranteeing compliance with all city codes, ordinances, rules and regulations.

All Contractors must register in person, Electrical, Plumbing, Sign & HVAC Contractors the master license holder must register with a copy of their master & Electrical Contractors license.

Allow approximately 7-10 days for typical permit review times. Larger projects require longer time periods. Longer review times are generally due to a lack of information supplied by the permittee. Provide two sets of plans to the Inspection Department. Plans will be routed to Planning, Engineering, Fire Marshall, and Plan Review for approval.

inspectionservices2To report violations of City codes or ordinances contact Code Enforcement at 936-633-0298. Typical code violations are abandoned cars, weedy lots, and illegal dumping or improperly disposed trash.

To Submit a permit application online, click here. Once the application is submitted come to the Inspections Department the next day after 2:00 p.m. to complete the process. Be prepared to provide a site plan, construction drawings, and drainage plan, if required.
