What causes the distinct odor at times in Lufkin water?
This is caused by hydrogen sulfide gas in our ground water.
Why can't you get soapsuds off?
You only need to use very little soap because our water is so soft; it is among the softest in the state.
What is Lufkin's water source?
Our source of water is ground water from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer. At the present time we have 12 wells.
Is my Water Safe to Drink?
Through routine water quality samples, maintaining adequate chlorine residuals, and water pressures throughout the Distribution System, the City of Lufkin's drinking water meets all State and Federal regulations insuring a safe drinking water for its customers. Click here for the most current water quality report.
