  • Retiree supplemental death benefit of $7,500 and surviving beneficiary benefits are also included.
  • Employees are eligible for full retirement benefits at 60 years of age with five (5) years of credited service or at any age with twenty (20) years of credited service
  • Employees are considered "vested" after five (5) year.

Lufkin Firefighters participate in the Lufkin Firefighter's Relief and Retirement Fund. This plan is required for all Civil Service Firefighters.

  • Employee contributes 13.2% of gross earnings, which is tax deferred
  • City of Lufkin contributes 22.90% of gross earnings
  • A Firefighter can retire at age 50 with at least 15 years of credited service
